On May 10 and May 11, China Machinery Industry Federation organized and held an appraisal meeting of the new products for "the development and engineering applications of 300MVar high-capacity, fully-air-cooled phase modulation units". After the appraisal, the experts of the appraisal committee confirmed that the new 300MVar large-capacity, fully-air-cooled phase modulation units with completely proprietary intellectual property rights could lead the world in their overall technical skill level and have a wide application prospect.  

This is the first time in the world when new-generation, fully-air-cooled phase modulators have been successfully developed to provide two-way, large-power and dynamic reactive power support for large power grids. It is also the significant breakthrough of HE in the development of transmission facilities.

The phase modulation units sent for the appraisal were put into commercial operation in December 2017 and have been in good operational status. They have functioned as a safety protector for DC transmission under ultra-high voltages.
