Units of Bengladese Coal-fired Thermal Power Project with Largest Total Installed Capacity Contracted by HE Were Once Synchronized Successfully for Power Generation
On November 10, local time in Bangladesh, the 275MW coal-fired units at Barapukur, Bangladesh, of which the three main machines were constructed and supplied by HE were once synchronized for power generation successfully.
The Barapukur 275MW coal-fired power generating project has been the coal-fired power generating project with the largest total installed capacity in Bangladesh so far. For this project, the unit was ignited at 20:10, on November 8, 2017, and the rotational speed of steam turbines reached up to 3000rpm at 18:00 on November 9. After the constant speed was steady, all shafting parameters were good, and all relevant complex tests were completed, which laid a solid foundation for the successful grid connection of units. Since the commissioning stage when the whole set of units started in this project, the boiler ignition, the unit rotating impulse and constant speed, and the first synchronization for power generation have been successfully achieved right for the first time. During this process, all system devices ran steadily, and all running parameters were qualified.
Now, the Barapukur project team of HE is sparing no effort to ensure that all performance indexes for units satisfy the requirement of long-term safe and stable operation, is preparing for the successful completion of 42-day reliability test of units, and is fighting for handing it over to the Owner and realize the commercial operation as soon as possible.

The Bangladesh Barapukur Project is the first coal-fired power project signed by HE and Bangladesh Power Development Board. The contract scope includes the design, purchase, supply, civil works, installation, tests and 5-year long-term services. The three main machines of the power plant are made by HE and the power plant auxiliary equipment is provided by Chinese manufacturers. Therefore, the project is a typical made-in-China and constructed-by-China project.
