At 1:58 p.m. local time on March 29 in Saudi Arabia, the Unit 1 gas turbine of the Nairyah 2 IPP in Saudi Arabia, undertaken by Harbin Electric International Company (HEI), was successfully positioned, marking the official start of the Unit 1 gas turbine installation work and laying a solid foundation for subsequent project progress.
As the “heart” of the combined cycle power plant, the gas turbine requires extremely high installation precision and involves significant installation challenges and safety risks. Before the hoisting operation, the project team conducted a detailed safety and technical briefing for the personnel involved and carried out a joint inspection of the hoisting machinery, tools and equipment to ensure the safe and successful positioning of the gas turbine.
The Nairyah 2 IPP in Saudi Arabia is one of the country’s largest gas-fired combined cycle power plant projects in recent years in terms of installed capacity and is also an important project under Saudi Vision 2030 to optimize the country’s power mix and enhance the grid’s peak-shaving capacity. The successful positioning of the gas turbine, a major project milestone, marks a new stage in the project’s installation work.
