At 14:00 on June 25, local time of Pakistan, HEI and Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) signed the M&E general contract for the Pakistan Tarbela 5 3×470MW Hydropower Project in Lahore, marking another achievement in the development of the hydropower market of Pakistan.

The generator units installed in the project have the largest single-unit capacity in Pakistan, and also are the units with the largest single-unit capacity directly exported by HE, the main equipment of which will be manufactured by Harbin Electric Machinery Company Limited.
